This document describes the licensing terms regarding the openmamba GNU/Linux distribution and the www.openmamba.org web site.

Contents from the main web site (www.openmamba.org), the forum (forum.openmamba.org) and the mailing lists, where not differntly specified, are released under a Creative Commons license:

Contents coming from users and community members do not represent an exception.

Copyright covered contents that is non complatible with a Creative Commons license will be immediately removed, as specified in the Service acceptance conditions subscribed during the registration on the web site.

openmamba GNU/Linux distribution

The openmamba GNU/Linux distribution mostly consist of software released under the terms of one of the Open Source licenses approved by the open source initiative. There are listed in this page.

The software parts whose copyright is owned by openmamba developers (e.g. mamba installer, distromatic, postplug) and thus the openmamba GNU/Linux distribution as a whole, are released under the GNU General Public License version 3 license. Some openmamba components previously released under the version 2 of the GPL license will progressively be updated to the new version.

Exceptions

The following components of the openmamba distribution represent an exception and for them the terms of a non Open Source license apply:

  • NVIDIA proprietary video drivers (distributable)
  • ATI proprietary video driver (distributable)
  • Sun Java 1.6 (DLJ license)
  • Adobe Flash plugin (not distributable but downloadable)
  • Win32 codecs (non distributed but downloadable)
  • public domain software
